We know that menopause is a significant phase in a woman’s life, and understanding the educational gaps related to menopause is critical.
This study focuses on identifying women’s health needs during this time. Researchers thoroughly searched all the databases (such as Scopus, PubMed, Scientific Information Database, and Web of Science) to find studies, reviews, meta-analyses, and clinical trials published between 2007 and 2021 to examine the health needs of women during menopause. Out of 5,705 papers reviewed, 180 met the inclusion criteria for the study.
The findings revealed that women going through menopause have diverse educational needs and support to help them during this unique time in their lives. We need to become knowledgeable about what is happening in our bodies and brains during this time to learn to support ourselves and others. Menopause is a chapter where your body changes, like during puberty, but in reverse.
Every woman’s experience of menopause is different. While some will face a range of health changes or challenges, having the knowledge, support, and acceptance can make all the difference. Education, resources, and accessible healthcare can empower women during this phase. I appreciated this study because it highlighted the importance of raising awareness and ensuring health services are available to support women through menopause.
